Interview with Shanmugam, Co-founder of Scubez Networks

Today I am presenting another written interview with Shanmugam of, A leading domain, shared & reseller web hosting company from South India.Chammu

1. What got you interested in starting a web hosting company? Share your story

After completing graduation, I have been 3 years in BPO industry and deep expertise in system hardware and operating systems. The start of Scubez Networks was inspired by the need at the time of good domain & web hosting company in India. Since, I had a very bad experience in getting support for my personal domain, ended up losing it. Also I knew internet started playing  an extremely substantial role in daily life of almost every people across the globe. This made me to think & move forward in setting a web hosting business. When i sat with my friend (Who is CEO now) and calculated the initial capital, infrastructure, technical aspect, man power etc. Everything was convincing and achievable. That’s how the journey begins.

2. What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced while growing your business?

Every entrepreneurs has to face numerous challenges on the road to success, In particular we had problems in getting prospect customers in the initial stage. We tried marketing technique through print media and invested huge money for quiet sometime and miserable failed. Also had very little knowledge in SEO & internet marketing.  Because we had never exposed to this area in my work time.  So online promotion & existing big guns were the biggest challenges faced by us. Slowly started to learn with available SEO tools & tips through online, applied that into the business, sometime got failed and finally got few new customers. This process took more than 1 1/2 year to bring sizable income to run the business day to day activity.

3. How do you stand out from competitors in this industry?

We understood very quickly the need of good support system. Even technically sound customer want to contact the company for some sort of queries, so we gave very personalized technical support to all the customers unlike other companies. Also all our web hosting plans comes with flat 50% for the first year.

4. What have you done over the years to promote your services? What’s working best for you?

We tried every promotional technique that was available online, few of them paid good dividend but not all that worked for us or we might have not used to best of our knowledge to get the success. We did not explain too much about our web hosting package or stuffed too many things into it. Made very simple & targeted only small & medium business owners through local search engine, social media & very amount in PPC.

5. What are your future plans for 2014 and beyond?

With more than 15,000+ successful online transactions, will continue to improve upon its customer service and enter the era of cloud hosting anytime soon. We will keep ourselves a wonderful place to host a website and make our customers love us in each & every support . For both reseller & clients, we will offer all the necessary ideas and resource to be successful in online businesses.
