1. What got you interested in the vacation home rental business? Share your story.
Belgrade is an interesting city with rich history and is becoming more popular year by year. Therefore, people coming to Belgrade are looking for budget options for their stay. Hotels are pretty expensive here in Belgrade and there’s a small number of them in the city downtown. Renting a short-term apartment instead of going to hostel is much more comfortable for the same price if group of people is coming.
2. What are some of the challenges you have faced while growing as a business?
The main challenge is to deliver the right message to the right people. There’s a lot of competitors and everyone can make a site in day or two and sell its services. We constantly look for ways to distinguish ourselves from others and to present our service as something unique.
3. What are some ways you are able to stand out against competitors and other rental properties in your area?
Quality of service that brings guests back is currently making about 30% of all sales. It’s quite longer path but we believe it’s the only one way we could do business. As I’ve already said you have to show the face of your business. Internet is just that type of media. People buy from people they like and trust and you have to show your personality somehow.
4. How have you gone about promoting your business online? What is working best for you?
Apart from using usual advertising tactics online, we also engage people on social networks the unusual way I would say. One tip for all marketeers: start engaging people on Google+ it’s the network of the future!
5. What are your future plans for 2014 and beyond?
We will try to make our offer richer. Also we will introduce some handouts so the guests can get to know Belgrade more well. Belgrade is really an interesting city everyone should visit it.
